I brought my car here in April because I was having brake issues, which were the only issue I was experiencing with the vehicle. Even though I came in for a brake concern only, for whatever reason they checked over the entire front end of my car, which had no issues at the time.
After their inspection (mind you it was just my breaks that were suppose to be checked), I was given a list of recommended repairs totaling almost $2,400, including tie rod ends, control arm and ball joint work, a master cylinder replacement, and brand new tires. I was told my master cylinder needed to be replaced and that my vehicle was not road safe.
The only repair that was actually done that day was straightening the flex rod as that was kinked. Since then, my brakes have worked perfectly with no issues whatsoever. Despite this, I was still told the master cylinder needed replacing and that my vehicle was not "road safe".
I was also told my tires were severely weather-cracked and needed to be replaced immediately. However, those tires were only about four months old at the time. They have since been inspected elsewhere and found to be in excellent condition for their age, with no concerns regarding weather cracking at all.
Today, I called back to ask whether the master cylinder had actually been tested or if it was simply a suspected issue, as my vehicle is being inspected elsewhere this week and I wanted a clearer idea of what repairs might actually be necessary. The gentleman I spoke with was very polite and helpful, but he informed me that the master cylinder had not been tested while they had my car. So unsure why the gentleman who gave me the quote originally here told me this part needed replaced ASAP.
Had I gone ahead with everything I was told was needed this day, I would have spent a significant amount of money on repairs that were not necessary at all. This has left me seriously questioning the accuracy of the service & quote I was given.
I can’t say for certain why this happened, but when I originally booked the vehicle in, I mentioned that it was my first vehicle and that I didn’t know much about car repairs. I genuinely feel as though I was taken advantage of, and I can’t help but wonder if being a female played a role in how these recommendations were presented to me.
The only positive part of my experience was that they were able to fit me in the same day when I first called in April.
Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage others to seek a second opinion before authorizing major repairs here, as some of the issues identified were not actually confirmed through testing or were later found to be inaccurate.

Friendly and honest. While they delivered pretty bad news regarding my car. They took me out and pointed out the real problems with it, which is a lot further than many shops will go

My wife has been going here for a little while now. We just purchased a new car and had them look it over, so this is my first time dealing with McCoy's.
I spoke with Mike at the front desk told him everything we wanted done and checked over. He is a delight to deal with. He understands the customer and his trade!
Normally when you ask such a task the garage will try to find something wrong with the vehicle (that's another way they make money). Or suggest an oil change replacement of wear and tare parts, etc...
Mike did exactly what I asked and didn't try to gouge me as a first time customer. I respect that. We knew that there was a wheel sensor not working (for air pressure) and he told us about it, nothing more other than how good a shape the vehicle was in. He put us at ease with our new purchase. One of the mechanics was at the front desk when I picked up the car and also gave me some friendly advise.
Here at McCoy's I found, friendly service, knowledgeable workers, competitive prices, great beef jerky and they found themselves a new customer!
Thank you for making a great impression and providing the service that we deserve! I'll be happy to share my experience with everyone looking for a good quality garage!

Don’t come here they tried to scam my brother do not come here if you want a lot more work then your car needs to pass I took it to city view auto and it passes no problem just needs rear breaks replaced that’s the only thing it actually needed after I fixed my car up and got my 2 year
Inspection no problem. I come to mccoys three times and they refused to pass it after I got all the work done that they said they needed to pass and then after they said it needs more stuff done they wasted a lot of my time and money trying to get my car on the road don’t recommend coming here

I go here for my MVIs and just went for my first "why is my car making this sound" visit. They were able to see me within the same week, explained to me what was wrong with my car, both in a diagram and on the car itself, fixed it that afternoon and it was an extremely fair price. The staff are knowledge, friendly, and fair. Highly recommend.

Had a great experience a couple months back. I was only visiting Fredericton for a couple days, and my brakes started making very uncomfortable sounds part way through. Called them the next morning and they had me back on the road the same day, no problems since.

Brought my 2014 car in to get just checked. Costed me 150$ just for them to look at my vehicle. Then they quoted me 4300$ to change my "entirely rotted exhaust " im assuming they tried pulling this because I said i know nothing about cars. Then they refused to give me the quote list which is insane cause i paid 150$. Back in Ontario they do checks for free and give you the parts list. So took car back home, jacked my car up with my boss who knows mechanics. Found only one part needed a weld near the front of the car. Brought my car to company on royal road. Got my car fixed same day for 50$. Please avoid these scammers.

The nicest mechanics we've ever met! We are currently on an East Coast Rd. trip from Toronto. In the middle of our trip, we heard clanging noises under the hood while driving. We urgently needed a safety check and Mc Coys were the first shop we stopped at. They immediately took care of us, four mechanics stopped what they were doing to assist and identify the problem. Thankfully, it was just some loose bolts that needed tightening. 30 minutes later we were on the road again. In the photo is Devon, was one of the amazing mechanics, who was also very friendly to our son and our dog. If I lived in New Brunswick, they would be my go to mechanics.

I had my 2012 Toyota Corolla inspected at Macocy Autos on Riverview Road in Fredericton today, and the service was excellent! Mike was professional, thorough, and explained everything clearly. The inspection was done efficiently, and the pricing was fair. I highly recommend Macocy Autos for anyone looking for a trustworthy and reliable mechanic. Thanks, Mike!

Don’t come here they tried to scam me do not come here if you want a lot more work then your car needs to pass I took it somewhere else and it passes no problem just needs rear breaks replaced that’s the only thing it actually needed after I fixed my car up and got my 2 year

my boyfriend went here for an inspection, got rejected three times. First time we went in it was a list of things that obviously needed done, they said if we got it all done and good to go they’d pass it. so we went to a mechanic and got it done. second time we went in and it was something new, we left and got that done as well seeing as they may have just missed it the first time around. My third time going in it was again something new. he asked them for a quote to have it fixed as he was fed up with the vehicle not passing, the quote was $455. Obviously he gave them the go ahead. two hours into them working it turned out one single bolt was seized… so they asked for another $355 just to unseize the one singular bolt! he said absolutely not and took his vehicle back home only to realize his horn mysteriously stopped working? Which was weird as the horn was brand new, maybe 2 weeks old and was working perfectly fine before we brought it into mccoys. We heard the horn beep as it entered the shop as well as when we locked it before going into the shop. He Had it replaced when he got the work done they said the car needed to pass. I called them about the horn and all the front desk man could say was “well the horn must’ve been a coincidence”. Went to another car shop for inspection turns out all i need is back brakes and somehow my horn unplugged itself? BS! Don’t go to these guys if you don’t want to deal with money grabbers!

Randy McCoy is a licensed mechanic and has two car repair shops. I took my 2011 Toyota RAV4 to the one at 3 Homestead Drive, Richibucto Road. I had a major issue: a leaky cylinder that was misfiring and allowing coolant to leak into it. We were on a road trip from Ontario and they fixed it correctly and quickly! Thanks Chris (and the other mechanic), Randy, and Natasha!
